Launching Careers in Healthcare Careers for Lorain County Seniors

The OTC+ Health Collaborative now expands access to high school seniors across all associate schools in Lorain County, offering a direct pathway into high-demand healthcare careers. Through this fast-track program, students can earn their Certfiied Nurse Aide (CNA) credential while still in high school—combining education and workforce training so students graduate with credentials, real-world experience, and a pathway forward. 

Delivered in partnership at the LCCC Ridge Campus and through clinical with O’Neill Healthcare (clinicals) North Ridgeville location, the OTC+ Health Collaborative bridges education and industry—ensuring students graduate career-ready, credentialed, and connected to industry and post-secondary opportunities. 


Program Designed For: 

The collaborative is designed for students that have an interest in the medical field, mid-level clinicians: Cetertified Nurse Aid, Patient-Care Tech, License Practical Nurse (LPN), Registered Nurse and other Health Care Technicians (radiology and ultrasound, etc).

Delve into one of Ohio’s leading careers and develop hands-on experience in the health care field.

FAQs, Schedule, Enrollment, and Program Details:

  • It’s a partnership between Lorain County JVS Adult Career Center, LCCC, North Ridgeville City Schools, and O’Neill Healthcare that allows students to earn their Certified Nurse Aide (CNA) credential while in high school.

  • High school seniors, ages 16 and older, who are interested in healthcare and have the resources to commute to class (LCCC Ridge Campus) and clinical rotations. 

  • No. The program is fully funded through Ohio’s investment in career-technical education. Students will be responsible to purchase scrubs. 

    • Complete the OTC+ Interest Form to express your interest in the program 

    • Await confirmation from Lorain County JVS Adult Career Center

    • Submit enrollment paperwork with Lorain County JVS Adult Career Center

    • Prepare for class — information on schedules, uniforms, and clinical expectations will be provided before the semester begins.

  • Students will need to complete the following as part of the application process:

    • Background Check
    • Physical by a Health Care Provider 
    • Complete Lorain County Community College – College Credit Plus Application
      • Students must complete the form to access Bridges-to-Success Program
      • Only complete if you never applied or completed LCCC credit course
    • Orientation Day at LCCC North Ridgeville Campus: TBD

    • Class Days/Times: Five Week Program, 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

      • 6/29-7/2 (Monday-Thursday)

      • 7/6-7/9 (Monday-Thursday)

      • 7/13-7/16 (Monday-Thursday)

      • 7/20-7/22 (Monday-Wednesday)

      • 7/27 and 7/28 Clinical Rotation at O’Neill Healthcare

    • Locations:

      • LCCC Ridge Campus – 32121 Lorain Rd, North Ridgeville

      • O’Neill Healthcare – 38600 Center Ridge Rd, North Ridgeville

    **Students must successfully complete 90-hours of course work, combined with clinical instruction.**

  • Students will graduate with a Certified Nurse Aide (CNA) credential, First Aid/CPR certification, and pre-apprenticeship completion status. Active enrollment through Lorain County Community College Bridge Program.

    Students will participate in Lorain County Community College Bridges Program, earning LCCC’s  SDEV 101: Exploring Healthcare Careers credit. Bridges will run Mondays: 1:00 to 2:00 p.m., with an optional in-person work session offered on Wednesday as well. LCCC staff will facilitate this portion. 

  • All grades and credentials earned through OTC+ are recorded directly on the student’s high school transcript, ensuring academic recognition and contributing toward graduation requirments.

    One college credit through active enrollment through Lorain County Community College Bridges to Success Program with the possibility of additional credit upon CNA licensure.

    Successfully Complete 90-Hours of Course Work, Combined with Clinical Instruction

  • Course work is facilitated through an LCJVS instructor at Lorain County Community College (LCCC) North Ridgeville Campus, and students will be enrolled in LCCC’s Bridges To Success health care exploration.     Students who have not completed the College Credit Plus Application and/or have never completed an LCCC credit course, must complete the application below.

  • Yes! Students will complete clinical training at O’Neill Healthcare North Ridgeville and have access to LCJVS Career Services and LCCC Career Services. Successful completers may also receive a guaranteed interview with O’Neill Healthcare.
